Green Goes with Everything: Simple Steps to a Healthier Life and a Cleaner Planet

Manufacturer: Atria
Imagine if your best friend gave you vital information that could protect you and your family, and save you money, and help the planet. Imagine if you were given clear, simple choices, small changes that could have a big impact on your life. And you could still wear leather shoes and deodorant. You'd listen, right?
Well, think of Today show contributor Sloan Barnett as that friend. A mother of three, a dedicated consumer advocate, Sloan gives us a fast, simple, down-toearth primer on the ways our homes are making us sick, and what we can all do to transform them into the safe sanctuaries we want and need them to be.
Sloan exposes the toxic truth behind the household products we use every day -- from laundry detergent to toothpaste to lipstick. She explains how these and other seemingly benign stuff can harm us and our children. She offers an array of alternatives, and inspires us to see that we're never helpless: Every day, we have the power to make better, smarter, safer choices.
Packed with common sense and sass, product picks and practical tips, Green Goes With Everything is for everyone who wants to live a healthier life.

great book
This is a very good book .Sloan gives you other suggestion if you choose not to buy from shaklee.
I purchased the book because I have allergies and asthma and I know for a fact that the chemicals effect me because they do immediatly. So I wanted to see what my options were.

becoming greener
A great information packed but easy and practical guide to start taking steps to help your home environment become safer and greener and having a better impact on the community. Sloan is realistic and passionate about this subject and you can feel it as you read this book.

Great Guide to Green Living!
As an environmental scientist, I was very impressed with this book. Barnett simply explains the lack of regulation regarding chemicals in our everyday household products, food and water and the importance of finding "greener" alternatives, and provides ways we can conserve important natural resources. I think this book is a great resource for anyone looking to "green" their life. The appendix of the book and her website ([...]) offer great weblinks for all sorts of green products, government resources and general information. My only complaint about this book was the focus on Shaklee products (her husband works for the company). She seems a bit biased when it comes to the green products available to the consumer. Additionally, I wish she would have focused a little less on the chemicals in household products issue, and a little more on reduce/reuse/recycling. She could have spoken a bit about the importance of yard sales and sites like Craig's List instead of throwing items out, and the importance of backyard composting. But, all and all, I think the book sends a great message and is a great introduction to green living.

Scary, but True Book!!!
This book was a real eye opener! It was almost scary reading about the chemicals that we USED to use daily. It didn't take us long to realize that we needed a change. If you know anyone that is having a lot of asthma or allergies, they really need to read this book! It could change their life!

Common Knowledge and Comercial for Shaklee Products
Can I give this less than 1 star? Just a long advertisement for Shaklee products - I'm sure they paid her. Information that is available in many magazines and free online. Unless you are some pathetic person who has never heard of using safer and greener products (I'm picturing a desperate housewife trying to clean her Prada shoes), then skip this book entirely.
